Medigap Plan B
How does Medigap Plan B work and what does it cover?
Medigap Plan B offers the same coverage as Medigap Part A with a few added benefits.
The difference between them is Medigap Plan A covers Medicare Part A deductibles meaning you will not have to pay money out-of-pocket to cover part of your medical expenses throughout the year.
Medigap Plan B covers the following:
- Medicare Part A hospital and coinsurance expenses for up to an additional 365 days after exhausting Medicare benefits.
- Medicare Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayments.
- Medicare Part A deductibles
- Medicare Part B copayments or coinsurances
- The first three pints of blood during medical procedures
It does not, however, cover the following benefits:
- Skilled nursing healthcare facility coinsurance
- Medicare Part B deductibles and excess costs
- Foreign travel healthcare emergencies
Costs you can expect with Medigap Plan B
Only Original Medicare beneficiaries with Medicare Part B coverage can enroll in Medigap plans. Your Medigap Plan B premiums depend on location, medical history, and other information. While all Medicare Supplement Plan benefits are standardized, your Medicare insurance company decides your premiums.
It is very tempting to choose Medicare private insurance companies that offer the lowest premiums, but we strongly recommend that you talk to one of our Medicare insurance agents before enrolling in these plans.
