My grandfather Orvis McNeal owned one of the first insurance businesses in my home town of Hahira, Georgia. He later teamed up with a couple of other local entrepreneurs and created a larger Insurance business called Star Insurance Agency. My grandfather passed when I was 4, but Star Insurance Agency still exists today.

I got started dealing with insurance early in life due to the untimely passing of my mother Mona. At age 15 I had to purchase my mother’s head stone and pay for her burial expenses out of my inheritance money because my mother had no Life Insurance at that time.

As an adult, I became responsible for managing my grandmother’s life which included many wonderful years together but also included seeing her through the ups and downs of life including prescription drug coverage, Medicare/Medicaid, in-home care, and later it included nursing home and hospital expenses. After many joyous years and quite a journey together, I ultimately handled her passing away, burial, and the settling of her affairs.

This process forced me learn the ins and outs of Insurance and took me down a path of following in my grandfather’s footsteps with my own Insurance business. In the yard I keep his old business sign that was in his first office. I also created a subdivision named after the family called McNeal Estates with streets named for he and my grandmother, Orvis Lane and Audrey Lane. See more on About Me page.
