How much does it cost and what do I pay out-of-pocket for Medicare Advantage?

Your Medicare Advantage premiums may be as little as $0 as Medicare pays your private insurance company for your health care expenses. However, the amount paid does not always cover your Medicare Advantage premium.

The maximum amount of money you pay out-of-pocket to cover your Medicare expenses differs from one Medicare Advantage provider to another. The maximum amount you can pay out-of-pocket for Medicare Advantage in the United States as of 2021 is $7,550.

Medicare Part C eligibility criteria

To be eligible for Medicare Advantage, you have to be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B. If you opt-out of Medicare Part B, you will automatically become ineligible for Medicare Part C. Moreover, people with End-stage renal disease do not qualify for Medicare advantage.

How to enroll in Medicare Part C

Medicare advantage has four enrolment periods, namely Initial Enrollment which lasts for seven months, Annual Election period which runs from October 15th to December 7th, Medical Enrolment Open Period, and Special Enrolment periods for unique cases on an individual basis.

You can make changes to your Medicare Advantage plan or move to Original Medicare between your enrolment period after you apply to the day before your Medicare coverage begins.
